The magnificent old theatre, its façade adorned with arches and sculptures of 8 muses, was restored by Jean Nouvel in 1993 and enhanced with a semi-cylindrical glass and metal roof designed in the tradition of the Grand Palais. Raised to the rank of national opera house, it offers a harmonious fusion of neo-classical and contemporary styles.
